MICE tourism

United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) experts speculated that Vietnam would be the next MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing & Exhibitions) haven.

They also predicted it would someday rival Singapore, currently the largest MICE hub in Southeast Asia. Endowed with scenic natural landscapes, a rich cultural heritage, world-class natural wonders, fine beaches and hospitable resorts meeting international standards, Vietnam does seem destined to become an ideal destination for these lucrative tourist services.

Vietnam has determined that MICE tourism will be one of the strategic products of the tourism industry. Over recent years, some enterprises have shifted focus to MICE and gained some notable success. Favorite MICE destinations in Vietnam among both domestic and foreign tourists include Phan Thiet, Vung Tau, Phu Quoc, Dalat, Nha Trang, Danang, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, since these locations boast large hotel and resort complexes, conference meeting facilities and impeccable service able to accommodate conferences, award ceremonies and sales meetings with customers.

Some of Vietnam’s top travel agencies such as Saigontourist, Viettravel, Vietnam Tourism – Hanoi, and others have cooperated with domestic hotels to provide inclusive MICE packages including transportation, accommodation, meeting spaces, conference rooms, gala dinners and scheduled tours.

Vietnam will continue to improve the infrastructure for MICE guests, providing visa processing services from, airports, harbors or hotels to international fairs and exhibition centers. The country is also planning to promote MICE products within the mass media and at domestic and international tourist events, guaranteeing well-trained staff to support this type of tourism.

With continuous improvements in Vietnam’s infrastructure, MICE tourism is projected to continue its rapid growth. Further development of MICE activities benefit Vietnam’s tourist sector and opens other opportunities for socio-economic development through increased tourism from meetings, and international events.
