Every year the village Phu Dong hosts the Giong Festival registered by UNESCO as a World Intangible Heritage. Giong Festival is among the most age – old festivals which brings together the traditions of love for the motherland and the preservation of the cultural heritage. It is held from the 6th to 12th day of the 4th lunar month in Phu Dong Commune, Gia Lam District, Hanoi. The date acommemorates the legendary hero of Giong who sacrificed his life to fight against An invaders. The people proclaimed him Saint Giong or Phu Dong Thien Vuong. The Giong Festival expresses the everlasting fighting spirit and prayers for peace of the Vietnamese.
Hung Temple Festival
Since 2007, King Hung’s anniversary has been a National Festival. Hung Temple Festival is held annually on the 10th of the third lunar month to worship the Hung Kings, who were instrumental in founding our nation. The festival is also a time for Vietnamese to honor the legend of Lac Long Quan and Au Co. Hung temple is a scared historical and culturally rich site with many activities such as: the lion dance, xoan singing, chung cake, giay cake wrapping contests and so forth.
Ba Chua Xu Festival
Ba Chua Xu Festival is organized every year on the ending days of lunar April. Tens of thousands of people rush to this temple to attend the Lady of the Realm statue ceremony, and partake in the ceremonies.
